We're seeking a compassionate caregiver for a senior woman in Tilsonburg who uses a walker for mobility. Her husband is currently in palliative care at Tilsonburg Memorial Hospital, making this a particularly emotional time for the family. She's receiving care for the first time and needs someone who can provide both practical support and companionship during this difficult period.
- Assist with mobility support as she uses a walker throughout the home
- Prepare nutritious meals twice weekly
- Complete light housekeeping tasks including laundry
- Provide transportation to visit her husband in palliative care and for errands or appointments
- Offer memory prompts and gentle redirection as needed
- Engage in meaningful companionship activities
- Help maintain a safe home environment
- Support day-to-day tasks and activities of daily living
- Experience supporting clients with walkers and mobility devices
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
- Memory care experience, particularly with gentle redirection techniques
- Calm, patient demeanor with ability to provide emotional support
- Strong initiative and reliability
- Excellent communication skills with family members
- Ability to bring positive energy while respecting the client's independence
- Comfortable navigating a home with stairs
- Understanding of the unique needs of families dealing with palliative care situations
Twice weekly visits, approximately 3 hours per visit (6 hours total weekly). Days and times flexible based on caregiver and family availability. The family is exploring care options and will finalize the schedule after initial conversations.
The client lives independently in Tilsonburg in a home with stairs. She currently relies on friends for support but needs consistent professional care. The family includes a son who is actively involved and his wife, who works as an occupational therapist in community home care, so they understand the care process well.
This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference during a challenging family transition while supporting someone's independence and quality of life at home.
