Reporting directly to the Manager of Policy, Heritage and Design, this role is responsible for the review of landscape plans with respect to development applications throughout the Town of Caledon. As a Landscape Architect, you will perform the following duties, including but not limited to:
Project manage the review and approval of landscape plans and other relevant documents associated with all development applications including draft plan of subdivision and condominium, Official Plan Amendment, Zoning By-law Amendment, and site plan approval, and ensure compliance with Town standards and by-laws
Review and make recommendations in consultation with the Planning and Engineering Departments on all park, trail and streetscape conceptual, design and construction drawings, as part of the subdivision process
Approve landscape construction cost estimates and approve appropriate securities, including reductions and releases
Perform preliminary and final inspections for landscape works under the terms of the subdivision and site plan agreement, including reforestation inspections
COVID-19: In consideration of the current pandemic and Public Health orders, the Town of Caledon is providing limited in-person services as Town Hall is open to the public by appointment only. The successful candidate for Landscape Architectwill be required to work a flexible schedule, including in the office, remotely and after hours (as required).
The Ideal Candidate
We are seeking an enthusiastic professional with training and knowledge in the above, normally acquired from a post-secondary degree in Landscape Architecture, or related field. Our ideal candidate has 5 years related experience in Landscape Architecture, preferably in a municipal setting, and full membership with the OALA. Experience in landscape construction and strong knowledge of arboriculture would be considered assets.
The ideal candidate will have superior interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively in a team environment. We are seeking an individual with excellent verbal and written communication skills, a demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment, and ability to exercise significant discretion and maintain confidentiality.
This position offers a salary range of $78,389.46 - $94.706.52 plus a competitive benefit package.
