The Merchandiser is responsible for obtaining schedule and order information for assigned accounts and calling
on those accounts in a timely fashion. Through the use of Best Practice techniques, the Merchandiser maintains
the greeting card department for Carlton Cards by reordering merchandise, putting out new orders,
straightening merchandise on display, putting up or taking down seasonal merchandise, counting carryover and
performing other tasks. The Merchandiser must have access to internet.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plans schedule through obtaining order and scheduled hours
o Plans work week with Area Supervisor (AS) and in concert with order arrival.
o Keeps within designated hours.
o Meets order and stratification deadlines.
Contacts store management in a professional/customer-driven manner on every call.
Using Best Practices, maintains the Everyday Department by: o Reordering stock-controlled merchandise
o Filling displays with company merchandise
o Putting orders away (if required)
o Straightening merchandise
o Sorting, removing, preparing credit (as directed by Supervisor) of damaged and soiled
o Pricing merchandise (if required)
o Dusting and cleaning cabinets and merchandise (when necessary)
Using Best Practices, maintains the Seasonal Department by:
o Informing the supervisor of any shortages of seasonal merchandise
o Setting up display per chain guidelines
o Straightening and filling display
o Tearing down, inventorying and sending back carryover merchandise
o Being available for holiday set-up, service and take down schedules
Completes assigned paperwork and phone work correctly and on time
o Account Service Record (SA-301 C)
o In-store requirements
o Other reports required by supervisor
Communicates fixtures issues promptly to AS.
Follows appropriate work schedule and calls on assigned accounts and reports work time on a daily
Recharges scanner/transmits data as directed.
Communicates with supervisor regularly regarding changes or problems in the department, competitive
activity in the department, or changes in store operations
Participates in revisions and new installations as directed and upon availability.
Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
Conforms to company policies including all safety directives. Follows Chain and store
policies/procedures as they affect the merchandising of the greeting card department and in matters of
