We are currently looking to expand our team and are seeking a qualified Journeyman Mechanic to lead our maintenance operations in Calgary, AB as a Shop Supervisor. Reporting to the Equipment Maintenance Supervisor, the Shop supervisor is responsible for the ongoing repair and maintenance of all equipment required for the business activities of the corporation and the daily operations of the shop and support field services. The main focus of this position is to minimize and/or eliminate equipment down time on projects. The position will work Monday - Friday from 7:30AM-5PM, with every 4th weekend on call.
What is the role?
- Provide support required to keep equipment operating and jobs progressing with little or no interruption
- By reviewing equipment records with the Equipment maintenance supervisor, provides information for budget planning
- Work with Management team to hire, train, and supervise, mechanics and service people required to provide equipment repair and maintenance of Carmacks equipment
- Work with purchasing and Equipment maintenance supervisor to manage the equipment supplies and services
- Working with the Equipment Team, manage and maintain Equipment Division records and information requirements pertaining the equipment maintenance and repair
- Dispatch work for technicians with instructions including expected time for completion of repairs
- Participate, instruct, and support mechanics in the repair and maintenance of equipment
- On complex projects, perform inspections of completed repairs to ensure thoroughness and quality of repair
- Along with Equipment Maintenance Supervisor, ensures that all company and industry regulated policies, procedures and practices are followed
- Work with Equipment Maintenance Supervisor to organize equipment, personnel, and workload to meet requirements
- Monitor, administer, and maintain high safety standards as set out by the Corporate Safety Program
- Provide input into ways and means of improving the efficiency of the Division
- Keep equipment well serviced without over servicing
- Manage and control costs within the division
- Other duties as assigned
What do we value?
- Minimum 5 years related work experience with heavy construction equipment
- Minimum 3 years supervisory experience; familiar with all aspects for running a shop
- Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic – Red Seal Certification
- In-depth knowledge on characteristics and maintenance needs of a wide variety of heavy construction equipment
- Ability to perform a broad range of supervisory responsibilities
- Highly organized with ability to prioritize, plan, with flexibility to change as priorities shift
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills and project management
- Strong ability to train and mentor
