Underground Excavator Operator

Job Description
As a representative of Cannex Contracting, we are looking for someone to fill the available Underground Excavator Operator position with a skilled professional. Our ideal candidate can effectively work alone and in a group setting. The candidate will showcase professionalism and safety both on and off the jobsite. And can quickly adapt to the needs of their supervisor.
This position will include additional tasks as needed by the site supervisor. And candidates who possessing the ability to operate more equipment will be seen as having an advantage.
Duties Include;
- Responsible for digging safe trenches, lifting materials in/out of the cut, and keeping both production/safety in mind while working.
- Perform routine vehicle inspections, fill our digital operators’ checklists daily, and report any maintenance requirements to supervisors.
- Reporting to Site Foremen/Supervisor. And assisting other employees as required/directed.
- Keeping the interior and exterior of the cab clean
- Follow all internal company policies, procedures, and supervisor directions. As well as external policies that may apply from jobsite to jobsite
- Attend and participate in toolbox and safety meetings
- Ability to operate various types of equipment will be considered an asset
Qualifications/Requirements
- Class 5 license with a clean abstract (please provide abstract)
- Reliable transportation in and around the Calgary area
- 3+ years of experience in a relevant field (pipeline, underground utilities, trenchless, etc)
- Monday to Saturday during Summer/Fall Season (average of 58 Hours/Week)
- CSA-approved Safety Boots
Training/Certificates
- CSTS 2020 Certificate (Required)
- Standard First Aid (Preferred)
- Ground Disturbance (Required)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $34.00-$45.00 per hour
Expected hours: 58 per week

- Construction: 3 years (required)
- Heavy equipment operation: 3 years (required)
Licence/Certification:
- Class 5 Licence (required)
