Job Summary

Opened in December 2018, the NEW Courtyard by Marriott Burlington is now looking for Food and Beverage Supervisor to join our team. The newest hotel to the Burlington/Oakville region features 135 guestrooms and suites with 1800 sq. ft of flexible meeting space, indoor salt-water pool, state-of-the-art fitness centre, and on-site Bistro Restaurant & Lounge.

  • Assist with preparation and serving in the Bistro and Events/Banquets
  • Manager on Duty for restaurant when F&B Manager not on site
  • Develops and implements strategies for the F&B operations, marketing and sales that support achievement of the hotel’s goals
  • Maximizes profitability by supervising Food & Beverage operations
  • Analyzes business results on a regular basis and takes actions to improve results as appropriate
  • Leverages system-wide expertise and resources where possible in order to incorporate best practices and deliver services on a cost-effective basis
  • Determines appropriate staffing levels for forecasted business and schedules employees accordingly
  • Analyzes and controls costs by adhering to standards of operations for forecasting, budgeting, scheduling, payroll control
  • Ensures department adheres to all health, hygiene and safety policies
  • Develops and implements strategies and practices which support employee engagement
  • Assists in recruiting, selecting and training associates
  • Provides employees with the orientation and training needed to understand expectations and perform job responsibilities
  • Communicates performance expectations and provides employees with on-going feedback
  • Seeks opportunities to improve the customer experience by seeking customer feedback and reviewing reports and developing strategies to improve department and hotel services
  • Follow all safety and security procedures and regulations while performing daily duties
  • Follow departmental policies and procedures and service standards
  • Follow the policies and procedures and all brand standards as outlined by Marriott
  • Deal with guest requests in a courteous, prompt, and professional manner
  • Attend scheduled staff meetings, training, and orientation sessions
  • Maintain standards of punctuality, uniform and personal hygiene as required by Hotel policy

Required Skills

  • Prior supervisory experience with Starbucks, Micros, Banquets, Catering and Hotel Restaurant Operations is strongly preferred
  • Flexible schedule including evening and weekends required
  • Smart Serve certified required / Food Handler certificate an asset
  • Must speak fluent English; additional language skills preferred but not required
  • Self-starting personality with an even disposition and able to work with minimum supervision
  • Interpersonal and time management skills
  • Must be legally permitted to work in Canada
