About the Client:
We're seeking a compassionate caregiver for a husband who recently came home from the hospital and is recovering before prostate surgery. He uses a walker or wheelchair for mobility and has nephrostomy bags that require careful monitoring—he recently pulled one out at night, so supervision is essential to prevent this from happening again. His wife has noticed some changes in his memory and needs support ensuring his safety at home during this recovery period.
Responsibilities:
• Provide mobility assistance with walker/wheelchair throughout the home • Monitor nephrostomy bags closely and ensure they remain secure, especially overnight • Supervise for safety due to cognitive changes and memory concerns • Assist with medication management and reminders • Provide light meal support including reheating meals and mealtime reminders • Help with cleaning and laundry around the home • Drive to errands and medical appointments as needed • Communicate clearly with the family about daily observations and any concerns
What We're Looking For:
• Experience with mobility assistance, walkers, and wheelchairs • Comfort monitoring medical equipment, specifically nephrostomy bags • Ability to provide cognitive support and safety supervision for someone with memory changes • Post-hospitalization care experience preferred • Calm, patient demeanor with ability to take initiative • Strong communication skills with family members • Reliable and consistent presence • Respectful of client independence while ensuring safety • Valid driver's license and comfortable driving to appointments • English speaking • Available for short-term care assignment
Schedule:
This is a short-term care need during the recovery period leading up to prostate surgery. The family is exploring their care options and needs consistent support during this transition time. Flexible scheduling available based on caregiver availability and family needs.
Additional Considerations:
The family is first-time care recipients navigating post-hospital recovery. They need help providing care and are looking for respite support. The ideal caregiver will bring positive energy, take initiative when needed, and help both the client and his wife feel comfortable during this challenging time.
