POSITION SUMMARY:
- Support Product Development Specialists’ development of new wire and cable products/technologies in conformance with our APQP development process.
- Coordinate and perform lab compounding and laboratory tests to produce reliable and precise data to support specialists’ investigations.
- Assists with development of new products and continuous improvement and cost reduction activities. • Responsible for evaluation of DSG Canusa and competitor products as well as testing and evaluating various materials from EWOs, Production Runs and competitor samples to various industrial standards.
- Build/develop understanding of electrical Wire & Cable systems for LV applications and Heat Shrink / Cold Shrink technologies
- Build / develop solid understanding of relevant specifications
- Work independently or co-operate with a team of chemical, mechanical and electrical engineers and related professionals involved in quality control testing, product research and development
- Develop capability to complete statistical analysis on data including capabilities, and distribution.
- Maintain records of experimental details and results.
- Responsible for reading and interpreting specifications and standards to develop internal test procedures for product evaluation.
DUTIES:
Lab and Testing: Support product development projects with testing from concept to completion in accordance with APQP development process and HSE targets
Collect data from lab and plant trials related to development projects and summarize for use in statistical analysis.
Basic analysis of data when required.
Plan, conduct and Prepare Test Reports
Support QC by conducting annual material testing as per customer PPAP requirementsInterface with standards and approval technical staff (Engineers, etc.)
Support up keep of laboratory and equipment
Expand knowledge to wide variety of testing methodologies and standards in relevant technology areas as needed.
Administration:
Prepare and present product information including presentation of test reports
Report activities in a clear concise manner through written and oral communication and ensure that APQP documentation is up to date. Keep up-to-date on material and product technologies
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 5 to 10 years of related experience with plastic products
- Minimum community college education as Laboratory Technician
- Previous work experience in materials testing laboratory setting
- Previous work experience in wire and cable manufacturing or electrical accessories - preferred
- Previous experience with Adhesive - preferred
- Previous work experience in a materials and/or polymer manufacturing/processing environment
