ROLE DESCRIPTION
Reporting to the Shipping Supervisor, this position is responsible for performing a variety of tasks to ensure that the shipping and receiving process is streamlined and monitored. The Working Foreman is a leadership position that assists with the organization, supervision, and training of the shipping department employees. Position works in a fast-paced environment, operating mobile equipment and doing repetitive work.
DUTIES
- Accountable to accurately and efficiently perform duties to assist the flow of materials and products in to and out of the facility.
- Reviews shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities, work assignments, and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules.
- Inputting and maintaining accurate data entry of shipping and receiving records.
- Book delivery appointments with customers and carriers as required.
- React and respond to the daily demands placed upon the department.
- Responsible to ensure department equipment is maintained and functional, including but not limited to; forklift, power jack, racks and dock equipment.
- Responsible for managing the inventory and assisting with physical inventory counts for products, materials, and supplies.
- Accountable for the effective supervision of department staff, including but not limited to;
- Train and coach employees in each position in the shipping department.
- Ensure employees are adhering to company GMP’s proper food safety, and Company Health and Safety policies.
- Accountable to safely operate mobile equipment (manual and motorized) ensuring personal safety and employee safety.
- Accountable to adhere to and utilize Company policies and procedures, and HACCP regulations.
- Accountable to ensure a safe work environment for coworkers, customers, and visitors.
- Provide effective customer service to all internal and external clients/customers.
- Assume the responsibilities of the Shipping Supervisor in their absence.
- Other duties will be assigned as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Must have current Mobile Handling Equipment Certification, with experience working with power jacks, forklifts, etc.
- Medium computer skills required, with experience in Word, Excel, and Internet
- Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Minimum of one year shipping and receiving experience.
- Perceived Leadership ability required.
- Mathematical and organizational skills required.
- Attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
Wage: Over $29 / hour, Benefits, Company-Matched Pension, Sick Days, Personal days, annual increases and more.
Shift:
- Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM Start (may be required to start at 6:00 AM/8:00 AM/9:00 AM), plus daily overtime and Saturday overtime as needed
