Thank you for volunteering for the health and well-being of the people of Central Newfoundland!

Purpose: The Gift Shop is volunteer-run by the Women's Auxiliary. The Gift Shop Volunteer greets customers, asks if assistance is needed, and operates the cash register to ring in sales. All proceeds go towards the Health Foundation.

Position Title: Gift Shop Volunteer

Location: Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre

Key Responsibilities:
(1) Arrive 15 minutes early for the beginning of your shift.
(2) Be professional and friendly.
(3) Turn on register and verify float.
(4) Greet and assist customers.
(5) Ring in sales using cash register.
(6) Keep shop clean and tidy at all times.
(7) Keep coolers and confectionary items well stocked at all times.
(8) Follow closing procedure.
(9) At end of shift, ensure lights are off, cooler doors are closed (including ice cream cooler), door is locked, and key is returned to Switchboard.

Reports to: Volunteer Gift Shop Coordinator

Length of Appointment and shifts: The Gift Shop is open year-round.
Monday to Sunday: 9:30-11:30 am, 2:00-4:00 pm, 6:30-8:30 pm

Time Commitment:
The Gift Shop Volunteer is scheduled for one 2-hour shift each week.

Qualifications: Potential volunteers must be 18 years or older, trustworthy, friendly, and able to handle cash with accuracy. They must also be able to understand the pressures that some patrons of the Gift Shop may be under in a healthcare environment.

Previous experience in a retail environment would be an asset but is not required.

Support Provided: One-on-one training will be provided on site by the Gift Shop Coordinator prior to first shift; volunteers must participate in this orientation and shadow for approximately 2 hours.
