About the Role
We are seeking an organized, motivated, and detail-oriented Business Operations Assistant to support two growing local service brands, as well as assisting in new business ventures.
This role is ideal for a Business, Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Marketing student looking to gain practical experience of how to operate a small business. You will work directly with the owner and gain exposure to business operations, finance, government compliance and entrepreneurship.
This is not a coffee-running or filing position. The successful candidate will be trusted with meaningful responsibilities and will play an important role in helping the businesses operate efficiently.
Responsibilities
- Client communications
- Preparing financials and reports
- Assistance with Payroll and GST compliance with CRA
- Invoicing and collections
- Assisting with bookkeeping and expense tracking
- Conducting market and business research
- Following up on action items and outstanding tasks
- Supporting marketing initiatives and social media content
- General business support and special projects as assigned
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Business, Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Marketing, or related program
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
- Comfortable working independently and managing multiple priorities
- Strong attention to detail
- Professional and reliable
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with bookkeeping software such as QuickBooks
- Advanced Excel skills
- Experience with Canva, social media, or website management
- Interest in real estate, finance, entrepreneurship, or small business operations
