Abbotsford Regional Hospital & Cancer Centre (ARHCC)– General Surgery
Part-time 0.75 FTE| Job share transition re: retirement of surgeon
The Division of General Surgery at ARHCC and the Fraser Heath Authority are looking to hire a general surgeon to join the group. The applicant will hold FRCSC certification in general surgery as well as full licensure with the CPSBC. It is expected that the applicant will be proficient in a broad range of community general surgery and endoscopy. The ideal applicant will have an interest in colorectal surgery and will be comfortable with trauma surgery and peritoneal dialysis catheter insertions. The successful candidate would also be expected to be involved in UBC resident teaching.
ARHCC is a 300 bed, UBC-affiliated community hospital and level 3 trauma centre. ARHCC offers medical, surgical, obstetrical, pediatric, and psychiatric services along with a 24/7 emergency department and BC Cancer Agency. There are currently seven general surgeons in the group servicing the busy catchment area of Fraser East. General surgery call is currently 1 in 7 under the acute care surgery model. A MOCAP level 1 agreement provides an on-call stipend.
The position posting is for a part-time surgeon to job share with another surgeon who plans to transition to retirement. Main OR time, endoscopy time, and ambulatory surgery time will be shared with the transitioning surgeon until his retirement. The successful candidate will then be part-time at 0.75 FTE upon retirement of the outgoing surgeon.
Please forward letters of interest, a copy of your CV and three letters of reference. These must include letters from residency and fellowship program directors. If you have been in practice for at least four years, a letter from your chief of surgery will be accepted in lieu. Please submit all applications no later than November 2, 2021.
