Summary
Steelcon Group of Companies is seeking a General Labourer to join our team in Canada. This role is vital in supporting our construction projects by performing essential manual tasks on-site to ensure the successful completion of our iconic steel structures. Located in Canada, this position offers an opportunity to be part of impactful projects that shape the country's infrastructure.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performing general physical activities, ie: load, unload, sort and move shipments by hand and/or by using material handling equipment
- Keep plant clean from debris, hazardous or obsolete material
- Actively and safely operating crane machines
- Shunting inbound and outbound loads to and from the yard
- Follow instructions from supervisors to perform manual Labour tasks
- Help with setting up and transferring material, equipment, or temporary structures
- Conducting general maintenance ensuring the equipment are clean and organized
- Report issues with equipment or unsafe conditions
- Setting up machines prior to running jobs as well as assisting operators
- Complying with all safety protocols and procedures and adhere to all company practices, procedures, codes of conduct and participate in all Health and Safety training conducted by the company.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Experience in steel fabrication industry is an asset.
- Overhead cranes experience an asset.
- Ability to coordinate several simultaneous tasks while maintaining positive attitude and flexible work style.
- Without compromise, maintain a safe and clean workplace
- Self-motivated with ability to work well independently, and a willingness to learn.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be adaptable to changing priorities.
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work at heights
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the job
- Ability to carry and lift up to 50lbs.
Work Schedule & Location
- Location: St. Catharines
- Schedule: Day Shift – Monday to Thursday, 5:30 AM – 5:15 PM
- Overtime may be required based on operational needs
