This position is responsible for identifying, measuring, and recommending responses to emerging issues in the news as well as on social media. The incumbent will be responsible for the morning clippings package, creating social media and issues management strategies, project management and execution of social content, writing key messages, issues notes, creating visual and written social content and responding to communications from the public and members. They will also have some media relations duties.
Identify and report emerging issues impacting the organization and profession. This includes tracking media, legislative activities, government announcements, social media, etc. and coordinating appropriate responses.
Analyze data from social analytics and publishing tools such as Hootsuite, as well as native insights and social listening tools to engage community and generate conversations as well as recommend strategies.
Serves as the back up to oversee day to day operation of social channels including responses to members and the public.
Project manages digital and issues related deliverables such as OMA podcasts and briefing binder.
Writes key messages, QAs, media materials, social media responses and other items as required.
Education: Undergraduate Degree in Public Relations, Communications, journalism or equivalent.
5 years’ experience managing social media and/or issues in a government, hospital or other fast-paced, politically sensitive environment.
Need to have the ability to project manage and recommend strategy.
Social Media applications such as Hootsuite, Crimson Hexagon.
Excellent knowledge of Photoshop, illustrator and audio and video editing software.
