Job Summary
Reporting to the Director, the Manager, Patient Access and Flow, provides leadership and direction to the Access and After Hours Coordinators. The Manager is responsible for optimizing patient flow into and out of the organization through collaboration with internal and external colleagues. The Manager of Patient Access and Flow Access at works closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure consistent practices and seamless patient movement throughout the LHSC system and to continuously improve processes and procedures related to patient flow along the continuum of care..

The Manager, Patient Access and Flow closely monitors patient flow metrics and ensures that escalation protocols are enacted when triggers are met. The Manager monitors One Number activity and ensures that provincial timelines are met related to Criticall and Life and Limb.

The Manager collaborates with clinical leaders to develop and implement best practices related to patient flow such as performance measurement boards, bed huddles, bullet rounds and predictive discharge. The Manager ensures sustainability of best practices in conjunction with local leadership by focusing on audits and continuous improvement.

Qualifications
Successful completion of a recognized baccalaureate degree program in health care related field
Current Certificate of Registration from a college recognized under the Regulated Health Professions Act preferred
Related post-graduate education preferred
Minimum five (5) years’ experience in progressively more responsible leadership roles in a healthcare environment, preferably in an acute care academic teaching hospital
Fluent and computer literate with computer systems such as email, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Demonstrated behaviours supporting LHSC’s Core Values of Compassion, Teamwork, Curiosity, and Accountability
Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
Demonstrated commitment to the development of professional practice, mentorship and life-long learning and excellence in patient care

Understanding of and experience with workload measurement, staffing and scheduling and budgeting an asset
