Registered Dietitian
Location: Mill Cove, New Brunswick
Compensation: $44-47.00 per hour + Mileage Reimbursement at $0.57/km
Schedule: 1 Day per Week (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM)// work from Home option in the future
Flexible Work Arrangement: Choose any workday between Monday and Friday
Position Summary
Adapt Healthcare is seeking a Registered Dietitian to provide nutritional services at a long term care facility in Millcove NB. This is an excellent opportunity for a dietitian seeking flexible, part-time work while making a meaningful impact on the health and well-being of seniors in long-term care.
The successful candidate will work one day per week and be responsible for supporting resident nutritional needs, assisting with menu planning, conducting assessments, and collaborating with the interdisciplinary care team to promote optimal nutrition and quality of life for residents.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct nutrition assessments for residents upon admission and as required.
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized nutrition care plans.
- Review and assist with the development of resident menus to ensure nutritional adequacy and compliance with New Brunswick long-term care standards.
- Monitor residents at nutritional risk, including those experiencing weight loss, dehydration, swallowing difficulties, wounds, or chronic disease complications.
- Recommend appropriate therapeutic diets, supplements, and texture modifications.
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, speech-language pathologists, and other healthcare professionals regarding resident nutritional needs.
- Participate in interdisciplinary care conferences and resident reviews.
- Monitor food intake, nutritional status, and weight trends.
- Provide guidance to dietary and nursing staff regarding nutrition-related concerns.
- Support quality improvement initiatives related to food service and resident nutrition.
- Ensure compliance with applicable provincial standards, regulations, and best practices in long-term care nutrition.
- Assist with nutrition education for residents, families, and staff as required.
Qualifications
- Registered Dietitian in good standing and eligible to practice in New Brunswick.
- Minimum one (1) year of experience as a Dietitian.
- Experience in long-term care, geriatrics, rehabilitation, or community nutrition is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of nutrition management for seniors, including dementia care, diabetes, dysphagia, wound healing, and chronic disease management.
- Strong assessment, documentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
