Primary Responsibilities:
- Advise clients on immigration laws, policies, and procedures in Canada
- Represent clients in refugee/asylum claims, appeals, hearings, and proceedings
- Prepare, submit, and advocate for temporary and permanent residency applications, work permits, visitor visas, and citizenship
- Provide legal counsel on deportation and removal proceedings
- Conduct research to build strong legal arguments for unique or complex cases
- Maintain detailed knowledge of immigration laws, policies, trends, and current events
Required Qualifications:
- JD or LLB degree
- Licensed and in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
- 2+ years of experience in immigration and refugee law
- Strong research, writing, analytical, and communication skills
- Ability to empathize with clients from diverse cultural backgrounds
- Fluency in additional languages an asset (especially Hindi, Punjabi, Arabic, etc.)
- Familiarity with legal research platforms like Lexis-Nexis
