Airport Business Development and Community Relations Manager

The Airport Business Development and Community Relations Manager is responsible for creating, developing, managing and implementing the strategic marketing plans and related programs Airport wide including terminal related non-aeronautical revenue streams, brand management and air service development.

Under the general supervision of the Senior Airport Operations Manager, the position plans, coordinates and leads all sales, retail and marketing related initiatives intended to generate new business, expand the existing business segments of the airport as well as the coordination of airports event and management of promotional activities and materials. Stakeholder engagement and development of community relationships and partnerships will be a key component of ongoing success.

Duties

1. Revenue generation and management:
Create, develop, and manage terminal-related, non-aeronautical revenue streams
Recommend methods of optimizing terminal-related, non-aeronautical, retail revenue streams
Act as liaison between tenants and the Airport in order to optimize revenue and marketing plans
Provide revenue input for future Airport Master Plans

2. Strategic marketing plans:
Designs, implements, executes and facilitates the annual marketing plan
Researches and supports the development of strategic marketing initiatives such as air service development
Analyzes key stakeholder requirements and looks for marketing and sales opportunities and risks
Identifies and analyzes internal and external marketing initiatives that support the Airport’s business development goals. Develops recommendations for senior management.

3. Marketing and promotion:
Coordinates the development of Airport business development marketing material and campaigns (writes and edits collateral material, social media, advertising, etc.)
Participates in communications with the media, social media and crisis communications
Coordinates the creation and implementation of marketing research projects in support of the continued development of the Airport
Plans promotional activities for the Airport including trade shows, open houses, special events etc.

4. YLW Brand Management:
Ensures the branding of the Airport is consistent with Corporate policy and meets the Airport’s business objectives
Manages the Airport’s branding program, including sponsorships and advertisements, and analyzes and measures brand performance
Provides oversight to the Airport’s third party advertising sales through coordination with the Advertising Sales Contract
Develops and promotes opportunities for Community investments and partnerships

5. Stakeholder Relations:
Develops and manages the Airport’s YLW Spirit program
Designs and implements new opportunities to build community awareness of Airport related activities
Coordinates various community outreach programs
Identifies, advances and builds relationships with key internal and external stakeholders

6. Manage budget:
Revenue Budget: $25M Contributory
Operating Budget: $315K Primary, 24M Contributory
Capital Budget: 50K Primary, 29.4M Contributory
Who has final spending authority: Airport Director
Qualifications
University degree or post-secondary equivalent specializing in sales, marketing/communications, business or a related field, supplemented by a minimum of five years progressive related experience in sales, marketing and retail with a focus on business development and community relations.
Demonstrated skill dealing with the media and social media as well as knowledge of crisis communications principles.
Ability to build partnerships with industry, government and non-governmental organizations to ensure efficient program delivery, and to work collaboratively with internal clients to ensure public education efforts support and compliment related marketing and communications efforts.
