The Account Manager is the face of Dick’s Lumber in the marketplace. Their primary purpose is to drive business to Dick’s Lumber by meeting with customers or potential customers on job sites, in the customer office or at events and places relative to the business. The Account Manager is to maintain strong customer relationships with existing customers while developing new customers by offering professional, effective, and efficient solutions. The Account Manager promotes and sells existing and new products to meet Dick’s Lumber’s sales objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Be the primary point of contact and develop a professional relationship with customers to build trust and loyalty towards Dick’s Lumber.
- Represent Dick’s Lumber in a professional manner and ensure that the customer is treated with the utmost respect and courtesy.
- Make sure customers receive requested products and services in a timely fashion.
- Follow up with customers to ensure satisfaction.
- Resolve customer complaints and objections including investigating, interpreting policy, and taking the appropriate action to ensure customer satisfaction. Refer difficult situations to Business Development Manager.
- Perform other job-related duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Post-Secondary education in Business Administration, Sales and Marketing or a related discipline would be advantageous.
- Minimum of three (3) years sales and customer service experience in the lumber, building materials or construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of industry products, architectural/structural plans, and industry trends.
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Working knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point) and Microsoft Outlook.
- Demonstrated sales and cold-calling experience, ideally within the industry.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills and ability to communicate and interact with individuals at all levels of the organization.
- Attention to detail and effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Highly organized in prioritizing work, multi-tasking, and consistently meeting deadlines within a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs.
- Demonstrated initiative with the ability to work in a collaborative team-based environment.
- Ability to negotiate skillfully in tough situations with both internal and external groups.
- Working knowledge of OH&S and WCB regulations.
Working Conditions:
- Availability will be 7 days per week, with primary time during store hours Monday to Friday, 6:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Circumstances may dictate where some evenings and weekends are necessary.
- As a commissionable job, expectation is the hours may vary week to week dependent what is occurring in the marketplace and customer’s expectations.
- Travel Time: Job will require 65% of the time to be on the road servicing and meeting customers or potential customers.
- In many areas’ safety equipment such as steel toe shoes, eye, ear and head protection and safety vests are required.
- Exposure to dust, noise, and debris on job sites.
