Based in Ottawa, Ontario, the Application Specialist will report to the Team Lead, Customer Support for the Energy, Marine and Land Business Unit (EM&L) in a multi-faceted role that blends technical and product expertise, with market knowledge and direct responsibility for customer satisfaction. Application Specialist is the primary customer interface on sales technical support, hands-on field work and post delivery services for the MetalSCAN product lines.
What You’ll Do:
The Application Specialist will be focused on providing world class pre and post sales technical expertise on the MetalSCAN Products, developing into a Product Applications Subject Matter Expert. You will:

Collaborate with Product Management and Engineering Teams to suggest enhancements to existing products or the development of new products. This will be based on field experience, technical evaluations, customer feedback and a good knowledge of COTS technology.

Support the Marketing and Sales Teams in the development of new product applications and use cases.

Analyze field data provided by our product to determine the equipment health for the customer’s assets.

Liaise with customers and manage the resolution of any product issues or concerns.

Travel to international customer sites as part of the Field Service Representative (FSR) pool to provide hands-on technical support, including product installations, product commissioning, equipment inspection or surveys, training, and product demonstrations.

Act as the project manager for various tasks and projects undertaken by E&I Business Unit.

What You Bring:
The ideal candidate will have a degree or diploma in Science, Technology, Engineering, or other related program with 3 years of demonstrated experience in an associated role. Additionally, you should have:

Strong analytical ability and technical judgment

Experience with Mechanical, Electrical, or Software engineering in a support, design, or manufacturing role in a technology-based product manufacturing environment

Passionate about customer satisfaction

Available to travel internationally, with this travel averaging approximately 20% of the time

Knowledge of lubrication system design, control systems and industrial communication protocols

Knowledge of gas turbine engines, wind turbines, or other large rotating equipment platforms would be an asset

Knowledge or experience with condition monitoring systems is also highly desirable
