Overview:
Bortolussi Family Law is a Family Law boutique in Vaughan. We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized individual to join our team as a Family Law Clerk. As a Family Law Clerk, you will provide essential support to our legal team by conducting research, drafting legal documents, and assisting with administrative tasks. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in gaining hands-on experience in the legal field.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct legal research using various resources, including Lexis-Nexis and other online databases
- Assist with drafting and proofreading legal documents, such as briefs, contracts, and pleadings
- Organize and maintain case files and documents
- Assist lawyers with trial preparation, including interviews and document organization
- Perform data entry tasks to update case management systems
- Answer phone calls and handle inquiries in a professional manner
- Schedule appointments and manage lawyers calendars
- Assist with administrative tasks as needed
Experience:
- Previous experience working in a law firm or legal environment is preferred - Completion of and superior achievement in a Law Clerk program or paralegal certification with courses in Family Law - Strong research skills with the ability to gather information from various sources
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Familiarity with legal research tools such as Lexis-Nexis
- Ability to write clearly and concisely
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
