- Pay: $25-32 per hour
Based out of our Surrey Central office and warehouse, Flood Technicians respond to emergency water damage, flood, fire, and environmental losses throughout the Lower Mainland. Employees are required to start and end each workday from our Surrey office.
This is a hands-on field position involving emergency mitigation, structural drying, demolition, documentation, and customer service.
- Conduct site assessments and moisture inspections using moisture meters and other diagnostic tools
- Perform water extraction, structural drying, mould remediation, deodorization, cleaning, and emergency mitigation services
- Set up, monitor, and remove drying equipment including dehumidifiers, air movers, and heaters
- Monitor and document moisture readings and drying progress
- Perform selective demolition of damaged drywall, flooring, cabinetry, insulation, and other building materials
- Disconnect and remove fixtures and appliances as required
- Identify and protect unaffected contents and building materials from further damage
- Collect site measurements, moisture maps, photographs, and project documentation
- Obtain samples for asbestos, lead, mould, and other hazardous materials when required
- Complete required project documentation, moisture logs, daily reports, and time records
- Communicate professionally with homeowners, tenants, project managers, trades, and other stakeholders
- Assist with training and mentoring new Labourers and Flood Technicians
- Work collaboratively with demolition, construction, contents, hazmat, and project management teams
- Safely operate company vehicles and maintain company tools, equipment, and materials in a clean, organized, and professional condition
- Follow all company safety policies and WorkSafeBC regulations
- Minimum 2 years of restoration, flood mitigation, insurance restoration, demolition, or related construction experience
- Current IICRC Water Restoration Technician (WRT) Certification
- Valid BC Class 5 or Class 7 (Novice) Driver’s Licence + Acceptable driver’s abstract
- Ability to pass a criminal record check
- Willingness to work overtime, on-call rotations, and respond to after-hours emergencies
- Ability to safely lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs
- Ability to safely move and position industrial drying equipment
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Legally authorized to work in Canada
- IICRC Fire & Smoke Restoration Technician (FSRT)
- IICRC Carpet Cleaning Technician (CCT)
- AHERA certification
- Applied Structural Drying (ASD)
- Applied Microbial Remediation Technician (AMRT)
- First Aid Certification
- Experience with moisture mapping, psychrometry, and thermal imaging
- Leadership or crew lead experience
- Experience working with strata, commercial, and insurance restoration projects
- Experience operating and maintaining restoration equipment, including dehumidifiers, air movers, HEPA filtration devices, and air scrubbers
- Experience driving company vehicles, including cargo vans, pickup trucks, and restoration service vehicles
- Experience using and maintaining company tools and equipment in a professional field environment
