Radical Reading Company (RRC) is a small reading clinic dedicated to helping children reach their full potential in reading and spelling. We primarily use the Lexia Core 5 reading program and deliver support and tutoring remotely.
We are seeking a passionate and enthusiastic online part-time reading tutor to join our team.
As a reading teacher at RRC, you will have the opportunity to positively impact students, both personally and academically. We take pride in delivering results that matter to all of our students, and our tutors play a key role in this journey. Candidates must be confident teaching students in grade K-5. We are looking for teachers (or teacher candidates; ECE worker) with a background in teaching Kindergarten, primary and/or junior grades.
Here's what we're looking for:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Education (primary/junior qualifications) or working towards one
- Early Childhood Educators certificate (working with Kindergarten students)
- Experience working with children in educational or tutoring settings, preferably with classroom experience.
- Strong understanding of the Science of Reading and principles of Structured Literacy
- Experience teaching online via Zoom & using tools to support learning
- Previous experience teaching reading and knowledge of existing phonics/reading programs used in Ontario schools (e.g., UFLI)
- Experience using the Lexia Core 5 online Reading Program an asset
- Vulnerable Sector Check to be completed
- Excellent English oral and written skills
- A passion to help students reach their potential
- Ability to work remotely and input lesson notes in a LMS or Google Suites
Ideal candidates would be able to work a minimum of two shifts per week within our hours of operation below:
- Monday- Thursday, 3:00PM - 7:00PM
- Saturdays, 9:00AM - 4:00PM
We are looking for teachers to join our team in-centre!
Pay: From $20-$40 per hour (depending on role, education & experience)
