Job Summary
The Computer Support Specialist provides front line analytical IT, security support in a complex, fast paced health care environment. The position reports to the Regional Manager of Customer Service, Healthcare Technology & Data Management (HTDM) and assists with the HTDM Service Desk, a central point of contact on a day-to-day basis between Eastern Health end users and technical support staff.
As a Computer Support Specialist, you will exercise substantial judgment and autonomy to address and prioritize requests each day received through direct calls, voicemail, email submissions, self-serve portal, fax and walk-ups. Responsibilities include identifying and analyzing computer support, hardware and application problems and recommending/implementing solutions; assessing various end user requests and determining hardware/software requirements for desktop users; providing desktop and network support to multiple departments (mangers and staff) across multiple geographically dispersed sites; consulting with end users and vendors to evaluate systematic issues with computer hardware/software and providing appropriate solutions to meet end user requirements via the use of remote support software; installing and testing vendor supplied software programs and modifying default configurations to meet end user and organizational requirements; educating and orienting end users on the proper use of hardware and software; maintaining a wide range of desktop operating systems and various applications; installing network and local printers on desktop computers with the use of remote support software; and other related duties as required.

Regularly moves/lifts objects 10 - 25 lbs., and occasionally may require the lifting of monitors and computer equipment up to 40 lbs. while working in awkward/confined spaces.
Constantly performs fine finger/precision work while sitting for extended periods of time when using a computer.
Constantly requires visual concentration to read computer monitors, repair and/or install equipment.
Job Qualifications
Graduation from a recognized (approved) College with a two-year or three-year program in Information Technology/Computer Support or a Bachelor of Computer Science Degree is required.
Successful completion of the CompTIA's A+ Certification OR MCSE Certification is required.
Minimum of two years of experience within the last four working in Information Technology is required.
Current working knowledge of TCP/IP Networking is required.
Experience with security protocols, secure communications and network-based service deployment and management is an asset.
Experience in the planning, deployment and support of information technology in a health care environment is an asset.
Demonstrated strong interpersonal, analytical, communication and organization skills and be able to work independently in a client focused environment.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
