Position Summary
We are interested in recruiting a highly dedicated and motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join the Kwan laboratory at the Princess Margaret Research Institute. We use molecular biology, genomics, cell and mice models to study side effects of cancer treatment, such as breast cancer treatment-related lymphedema. The goal of the research program is to develop novel personalized approaches for the prevention and treatment of long-term side effects of cancer treatment. The successful candidate will perform genomic profiling (e.g., NGS), epigenetic profiling (e.g., MeDIP-seq), bioinformatics analysis, mechanistic gene knockout/overexpression experiments, and drug testing to identify biomarkers and therapeutics for normal tissue toxicity. The candidate will work under the supervision of the Principal Investigator and with established epi/genomic and bioinformatics collaborators.
Duties
The selected applicant will have the opportunity to contribute to several projects including:

Evaluation of circulating biomarkers (e.g., cell-free DNA) of normal tissue toxicity related to cancer treatment

Investigating the mechanisms of action underlying side effects related to cancer treatment
Duties are listed below:

Perform genomic profiling (e.g., NGS), epigenetic profiling (e.g., MeDIP-seq), and bioinformatics analysis

Perform genetic knockout/overexpression experiments of candidate genes in cell and mice models

Perform drug evaluation in cell and mice models

Mice handling and microsurgery

Write and publish peer-reviewed scientific publications

Qualifications
-
Candidates must have at minimum a PhD in Molecular Biology or relevant field of study

At least 3 years of experience with nucleic acid isolation, quantitative real-time PCR, ELISAs, western blotting, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence, cell culture, lentiviral transduction, CRISPR gene editing, genomic sequencing, epigenetic profiling, flow cytometry, and mouse handling

Experience with Incucyte, X-RAD 225Cx, Fluorescence Microscopy, and/or GraphPad are assets
-
Willingness to learn new techniques and technologies
-
Ability to plan experiments and analyze data
