Reporting to the Executive Director of Strategic Planning and Decision Support, the Director of Data Analytics and Insights will spearhead the development of our department's data and analytics strategy. This leadership role focuses on crafting innovative solutions for complex social service challenges and ensuring the delivery of client-centered programs. As the Director, you will lead a dedicated team in providing data analytics services, ensuring our data resources are optimized to meet the evolving needs of Nova Scotians while aligning with government priorities. Collaborating closely with program delivery staff, you will guide the integration of critical data from both internal and external sources to enhance our services.
You will play a crucial role in transforming our data strategy and driving impactful results. Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the creation, operation, and deployment of the department’s data gathering, analysis, and insights initiatives, ensuring they are robust and effective.
- Engaging with and fostering relationships with a diverse range of partners, from senior executives to functional teams, to understand their priorities, challenges, and opportunities and develop innovative, data-driven solutions.
- Recommending and implementing high-value data reporting requirements that benefit internal clients and the citizens they serve.
- Providing subject matter expertise, offering guidance on analytical approaches and methodologies to address current and emerging issues.
- Supporting strategic decision-making and data-informed decisions.
- Promoting anti- racism, equity and inclusion in all aspects of the unit’s work including integrating equity and cultural perspectives, and fostering an inclusive approach to data analysis and insights.

You will primarily work in a comfortable office environment attending meetings, and engaging with various partners. This position offers a balanced and supportive working environment with a regular work week of 35 hours, and 7-hour days. Work outside normal business hours may be necessary during peak periods or when specific circumstances demand. Travel for staff meetings, focus groups, and site visits may be necessary.

Pay Grade: EC 14
Salary Range: $4,461.45 - $5,576.81 Bi-Weekly
