Hours of Work: approximately 15 hours/week, Monday-Friday, with opportunity to extend hours in the future
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will involve supporting a program of research focused on mental health and addictions embedded within St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton and McMaster University. This role involves contributing to clinically relevant research within the mental health field. The role will support various research activities; involve supporting the supervision of students and research assistants; aiding in communication between people with lived experience, research staff, other researchers, and community partners; and contributing to research grants, papers, and other knowledge dissemination opportunities under the supervision of Dr. Danielle Rice.
The successful Research Coordinator candidate will lead and support research activities and act as a key liaison between Dr. Rice and other researchers, clinicians, research, assistants, ensuring smooth day-to-day coordination of lab activities and projects. The successful individual will work under supervision of Dr. Rice. Hours may vary based on current demands (e.g. grant deadlines, data collection, ethics applications). The successful candidate will have ample opportunities for co-authoring peer-reviewed papers, abstracts, and other forms of knowledge dissemination.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree in Health Sciences, Epidemiology, Psychology, Health Methods, or other related discipline required
- Minimum 5 years participation in research
- Experiencing coordinating research projects
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
- Literature searching skills
- Strong time management and scheduling skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Attention to detail and to ensure accuracy of work
- Familiarity with artificial intelligence (AI) and how to integrate this into daily work
- Organizational skills and ability to set priorities to meet project and task deadlines
- Ability and willingness to adapt to changing priorities
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and support day-to-day research activities across projects from inception to dissemination. This may include co-developing study materials (e.g., protocols, ethics submissions, ethics applications and associated documents, and support project completion tasks)
- Lead project management and administrative activities such as project materials, subcontractors, financial record keeping, preparation of draft budgets and financial reports, and managing project documents and files
- Support knowledge translation and capacity building activities such as preparing manuscripts, conference abstracts, presentations, infographics, tool development, and engaging partners in co-design.
- Serve as the primary point of communication between Dr. Rice and other team members
- Coordinate ongoing research activities, timelines, and deliverables
- Lead onboarding, training, and ongoing support of research assistants
- Lead data coordination, organization, and tracking across multiple projects
- Developing standing operating procedures
- Support research-related tasks such as literature reviews, data entry, and documentation
- Maintain project documentation, protocols, and research records
- Ensure research processes align with institutional and ethical guidelines
- Prepare materials for reports, presentations, and team updates
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
