Society of Saint Vincent de Paul provides community care in all aspects to the community and operates two Non-profit Thrift Stores in London, one on Elias Street and the other store is on York Street- both on bus routes. We need a permanent part-time Store Floater/Administrator.
The Floater/Administrator is responsible to support in the office with billing, filing and other office duties as needed. You will be responsible to assist with all in coming phone calls, messages, and emails. The key responsibility will be as Cashier during breaks, sick calls and vacations. In addition, you will assist in other departments when needed. Sorting and merchandising of all clothing and housewares while offering outstanding customer service in all departments. You must be sales focused promoting both store locations and our social media presence. This position will require support with posting and answering customers on our Social Media Platforms. You must be a self-starter, have sound judgment and can work independently and with your team. This is a very busy environment and requires a person with high energy and must be physical fit. The requirement for this position is the flexibility to work at both store locations and you are required to work Saturdays when needed.
Accountability:
The Floater/Administrator will work closely with the Store Manager and Assistant Managers. You must be able to think analytically, communicate with all team members, and discuss problems related to the job while participating in problem solving. You will assist with daily retail and administrative duties.
Duties may include but not limited to
- Customer service on the sales floor and at the cash counter as required.
- Assist and able to answers customers questions and/or concerns.
- Assist store manager with administrative reports.
- Proficient and timely in all modes of communication: computer, internet, and social media
- Able to work independently to complete daily duties.
- Cross train to assist the team in other departments.
- Merchandise, clean, sort and assist with pricing of housewares & clothing.
- Will be able to check prices and quantities for accuracy.
- Assist in other cleanup/maintenance duties as required.
- A willingness to develop skills for accuracy of all policies and procedures.
- Aware of the need to put safety first and will hold yourself accountable to Ministry standards.
- Follow all company policies found in the store’s manual.
- Any other related duties outlined by the manager.
- Able to work at both store location as necessary and when required.
- Confidentiality on all information is required.
Role Requirements:
- Ability to speak, read and write English.
- Knowledge of software for all social media platforms
- Microsoft 365
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Self-motivated and able to plan.
- A minimum of two Saturday shifts a month at either store.
- Ability to work under pressure and deal with difficult situations using sound judgment.
- Handling cash and operating cash register/debit card machine
- Have knowledge of store merchandising
- Open to working in both store locations when needed.
- 1 - 2 years demonstrated experience in retail sales and all aspect of store operations
- Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
- Provide current police check.
