About Deane House
Built in 1906 for Captain Richard Deane, the Deane House is a historic landmark in Calgary's trendy neighbourhood Inglewood. With a focus on seasonal and regional cuisine, the culinary team takes guests on an adventure through our culinary past and present. Deane House is a full service, à la carte fine dining restaurant, open 6 days a week, with brunch offered on weekends. An 80 seat restaurant with a library and bar upstairs for private events, and a garden patio sitting up to 90 guests; an ideal space for weddings and other special occasions. We will strive to host our guests with impeccable tailored service, thoughtful detail, and genuine care.Deane House is seeking an experienced Event Manager. The successful candidate will have a background in fine dining and sales, as well as a track record of excellence in attracting, securing and executing on event bookings including, but not limited to, weddings, corporate events and offsite catering.
The ideal candidate shares our values of championing local, seasonal and sustainable food, with a passion for wine and innovative cocktail service. He or She will also have solid business acumen and demonstrable administrative skills, be experienced in delivering on budgets and reporting and exceptionally well organized.
Responsibilities
- Initiate friendly welcoming and knowledgeable communication with every client, build rapport and trust, tell the story of their event experience
- Book, sell and execute events while upholding River Café service standards
- Partner with the front and back of the house staff to ensure an exceptional guest experience
- Prepare professional correspondence for customers, internal booking reports and file maintenance including responsible client database management
- Act as the liaison between the client and the staff to accurately communicate all pertinent details and information correlating to that event, ensuring all parties involved are clear on all event components.
- Manage events billing, including deposits. Ensure billing is timely to Accounting.
- Advance the financial goals of the restaurant by promoting sales and controlling costs while delivering exceptional quality product and service
- Work with outside vendors such as flower, linen and rental companies in order to create a full service event sector that is able to meet each client's particular needs
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years experience in an event management role in a fine dining, fast-paced hospitality environment
- Post secondary diploma or degree in Business or Hospitality an asset
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, someone who listens as well as he or she speaks
- Proven success in sales and accuracy in budgeting, reporting and invoicing
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritize administrative projects and deliverables
- Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Experience with restaurant software – Tripleseat Event Software, Squirrel POS, TOCK Reservations
