Senior Software Engineer, Toronto, ON

You’ll be a key player on a team at the center of a project transforming a country-wide software system used by a major program within Canada’s biggest retail company. Bring your fast-thinking, high-communication approach to our team, and you’ll be accelerated and upskilled through in-depth training on cloud platforms, with a focus on doing things right: clean code, integrated commits, accountability for code reviews, API design patterns, and cloud-native architecture patterns.

This role will also play a key part in ramping our software delivery velocity by leveraging the latest microservices development patterns using containers and DevOps.

What You’ll Do:
Design new features, automate deployments, aid in architectural design. You will collaborate with diverse agile teams (i.e. Infrastructure, Information Security, System/Application Development Teams and external partners/vendors) to assist with the implementation of complex innovative features.
Maintain our high-quality code base by performing code reviews, improving test coverage, automation, and general code quality.
Identifying and diagnosing deficiencies related to systems, coding and infrastructure, and recommending creative solutions for mitigation.
Performing peer code review to meet program quality targets.
Develop a highly engaged team by being an inclusive coach, mentor, and role model for all team members to help grow and promote our diverse talent pool.
Drafting system documentation for a wide variety of purposes.
Translating designer mock-ups and wireframes into front-end code.

What you Bring:
Hands on experience with software engineering, computer science, computer engineering or related technical field with a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in systems development and analysis with a focus on Java Development.
Demonstrated success as a Full Stack Engineer/Developer
Hands on development skills within cloud platforms incl. MS Azure or Google Cloud Platform and understanding of cloud-native design patterns
Knowledge and experience with server-side frameworks including Spring Boot, Spring Data, Reactive (Spring Web flux) and Spring Integration.
Relational and No-SQL database experience.
