About Millwoods Christian School Society
Millwoods Christian School (MCS) is a ministry of Calvary Community Church (CCC) dedicated to advancing Christ-centered education. The Millwoods Christian School Society (MCSS) is the governing body that oversees the ministry of MCS and its current agreement with the Edmonton Public School Board. Under this agreement, MCS operates as a dynamic K–12 alternative school offering comprehensive Christian programming. Located on the grounds of CCC, MCS and MCSS were founded by and continue to operate under the direction of CCC.
Through this unique partnership, MCS provides academically excellent education that fully integrates faith and learning, while the Society ensures the Christian vision, values, and community life remain at the heart of all that happens. MCSS provides leadership, financial support, facility oversight, and spiritual guidance that enable MCS to thrive as a Christ-centred educational community within the public system.
Additionally, MCSS runs Kingdom Kids Childcare Center for 118 children aged 18 months to grade 6.
Rooted in an evangelical Christian worldview, the Society seeks to nurture generations of students who love God, pursue truth, and serve others with compassion and integrity.
We are seeking a relational and visionary Executive Director who will champion our mission, guide the Society’s operations, and strengthen our partnerships with families, the church, and the school community.
Position Overview
The Executive Director of MCSS is hired by the Millwoods Christian School Society, which includes the Society Board of Directors, as well as the Elder Board and Lead Pastor of Calvary Community Church. The Executive Director is an employee of Calvary Community church and reports to the Lead Pastor of CCC. This role provides overall leadership and operational management of the Society, ensuring alignment with its mission and values. Working closely with the CCC Lead Pastor, MCSS, school administration, and community partners, the Executive Director helps sustain the spiritual, financial, and organizational health of the Society.
Key Responsibilities
Spiritual Oversight
- Seek to keep in step with the Holy Spirit for commitment to the mission and each aspect of leading this ministry.
- Provide spiritual oversight of the MCSS ministry, maintaining alignment with the purposes, theology and doctrinal statement of CCC.
- Support the MCSS ministry and MCS staff and students regularly through prayer.
Mission, Leadership & Vision
- Provide Christ-centred leadership that aligns with the mission, vision, and values of MCSS/CCC.
- Set and cast vision for the MCSS.
- Participate in creating, developing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating strategic plans that will develop and grow both MCSS and MCS.
- Support and encourage school leadership in maintaining alignment of MCS to the MCSS Vision and Mission Statement.
- Empower and support the Director and Assistant Director of the Kingdom Kids Childcare Center.
Financial & Resource Management
- Develop an annual budget and ensure sound financial stewardship and transparency in all Society operations.
- Provide regular financial updates and analysis to the MCSS Board and Society.
- Meet with parents regarding fees and concerns.
- Evaluate school requests in regards to financial or manpower assistance.
Governance & Administration
- Work closely with the Society Board to ensure effective governance and clear communication; prepare for and attend monthly Society Board meetings.
- Prepare reports, recommendations, and updates for the CCC Elder Board and MCSS Board.
School, Church, and Community Relations
- Build strong, positive relationships with parents, staff, students, and the CCC church community.
- Serve as the primary representative of the Society to internal and external partners.
- Represent the MCSS at annual events such as the MCS graduation ceremony and MCS and Kingdom Kids staff devotions.
- Develop relationships with members of Edmonton Public School Board and other Christian School Societies.
Qualifications
- Alignment with the mission, vision, and values of Calvary Community Church.
- A mature and growing faith in Jesus Christ, demonstrated through active involvement in a local evangelical church.
- Deep commitment to Christ-centred education and the integration of faith and learning.
- Proven leadership experience in a nonprofit or mission-driven organization.
- Demonstrated success in budgeting, and organizational management.
- Highly relational with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Driven, structured, and purposeful with an entrepreneur spirit.
- Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Post-secondary education in leadership, business, education, or a related field (graduate studies an asset).
