We are seeking an experienced Structural Steel Fitter to join our team. The role involves assembling, fitting, and installing structural steel components used in construction and fabrication projects. The ideal candidate should have strong technical skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
Key Responsibilities
Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
Measure, cut, shape, and fit steel components using hand tools and power tools.
Position, align, and secure steel parts using welding, bolting, or riveting techniques.
Inspect finished assemblies to ensure accuracy, quality, and compliance with specifications.
Operate lifting and rigging equipment safely to move heavy steel sections.
Work closely with welders, fabricators, and site supervisors to complete projects on time.
Follow all workplace safety regulations and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
Skills & Qualifications
Proven experience as a Structural Steel Fitter or similar role in fabrication/construction.
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and fabrication blueprints.
Proficiency with measuring instruments, hand tools, and fabrication machinery.
Strong knowledge of steel properties, welding basics, and fitting techniques.
Good physical strength and stamina to handle heavy steel components.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Knowledge of workplace safety standards and PPE usage.
Education & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent (technical certification preferred).
Minimum 2 5 years of experience in steel fitting or fabrication.
Certification in welding or rigging is an asset.
Work Environment
Workshop and/or construction site environment.
Requires use of PPE (helmets, gloves, boots, safety glasses, harness, etc.).
May involve working at heights, confined spaces, or outdoors in varying weather conditions.
