Remote: work from anywhere in Canada or the US
Hi there, we're building Velix
Velix is a venture-backed startup building a financial operations platform for logistics. Our early customers lose countless hours and tens of thousands of dollars every year reconciling, managing disputes, and connecting fragmented systems.
TLDR:
We're looking for a frontend engineer with strong product and design instincts who can also write full-stack code. You'll talk to customers, figure out what they actually need, and build something that makes their work simpler.
What you’ll do
- Own customer-facing product work end to end. Spend time with customers, understand their critical billing, reconciliation, and operational workflows, then design, build, ship, and maintain the interfaces and systems that help them solve those problems.
- Raise the bar for product quality. Build reusable design systems, improve UI/UX patterns, and help create a culture of thoughtful, high-quality product craft.
- Move fast, ship fast. Propose and deliver solutions without waiting for heavy direction.
- Wear different hats. One day you're redesigning a customer workflow, the next you're shipping an integration or debugging something nobody else has touched.
- Ship in pieces. Break ambiguous problems into focused releases that deliver real customer value quickly.
- Build for the people who come after you. Clean, modular components that others can pick up and extend.
What we are looking for
- 5+ years of experience across frontend engineering, product engineering, UX, or design-adjacent engineering roles, including at least 2+ years of hands-on frontend development.
- Strong frontend craft. You care deeply about how interfaces work, feel, and scale. You have clear opinions about UX and rethink workflows from first principles, not just polish what already exists.
- Full-stack capable. You can write backend code when needed, especially around APIs, integrations, and data flows.
- Customer-oriented product judgment. You’re comfortable working directly with customers and founders, understanding operational pain, and turning that context into product decisions.
- Genuine startup fit. You thrive in ambiguity, work well without a defined playbook, and are energized by building from zero to one.
- Self-directed ownership. You spot issues, propose solutions, and move without waiting for a PM to define every step.
- Mid-to-senior individual contributor profile. You bring strong opinions and high ownership, and want to contribute directly to building the product.
- Comfort working in an AI-first environment. You use AI tools or LLMs to accelerate product development, improve workflows, or ship production-quality features faster.
- Collaborative, low-ego, team-first approach.
Bonus points for
- Prior background in product design, UX, interaction design, or design systems.
- Prior work in FinTech, APIs, logistics, or multi-sided platforms
- Experience building products with significant data or financial complexity
