Canadian Islamic College (CIC) is a fully accredited private college offering an Honours BA in Islamic Studies, approved by the Ontario Ministry of Colleges and Universities, with its inaugural cohort launched in Fall 2025. CIC promotes academic excellence and critical inquiry within an Islamic framework in Canada’s pluralistic context. Canadian Islamic College (CIC) is seeking a qualified Sessional Instructor to teach IJC 304 – Political Science in the Winter 2027 semester as part of our Honours BA in Islamic Studies program.

Course Overview
IJC 304 introduces students to the foundational concepts and debates in political science, including:

Power and governance

Political ideologies and theory

Political institutions and state structures

Comparative politics

Civil society and social movements

Democracy and policy-making
The course emphasizes critical analysis of political systems, institutions, and ideas in both Canadian and global contexts.
Responsibilities

Deliver undergraduate lectures and seminars

Develop and update course syllabus and assessments

Facilitate class discussion and student engagement

Evaluate assignments, examinations, and presentations

Provide academic mentorship and feedback to students

Support student engagement and learning outcomes
Qualifications

PhD (preferred) in Political Science ora related field. Applicants with a master’s degree will be considered.

Minimum 3 years of university-level teaching experience

Strong background in political theory, comparative politics, or international relations

Commitment to interdisciplinary teaching within CIC’s academic framework
