Medical Office Assistant Position Overview The Medical Office Assistant/Admin IV position plays a key role in supporting the daily flow of patients through the clinic. This role combines patient-facing clinical support with administrative responsibilities, helping physicians and care teams deliver timely, coordinated, and compassionate care. The MOA supports clinical flow by preparing patients for their visits, including check-in and escorting them to exam rooms, gathering relevant information for their visit, and ensuring they are ready to be seen by the physician. The MOA collects and documents vital signs (such as blood pressure, height, and weight) in the Electronic Medical Record with accuracy. The MOA works closely with physicians by assisting as needed during patient care and office procedures, responding to clinical needs efficiently, and helping appointments stay on schedule. Exam rooms are prepared, stocked, and maintained according to clinic standards and Infection Prevention and Control guidelines, supporting safe and efficient care throughout the day. In addition to clinical support, the MOA contributes to administrative and care coordination tasks, including managing task lists, coordination of appointments and tests, tracking follow-ups, and helping close the loop on patient care. Answering phones and booking appointments may also be shared responsibilities, depending on clinic needs. Aligned with the Administrative Support IV classification, this role requires strong organization, critical thinking, and the ability to support clinical processes with flexibility. The MOA works collaboratively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team and contributes to a respectful, patient-centered environment consistent with the Vision, Mission, and Values of Primary Care Alberta.
