Packaging Supervisor
Brunswick Bierworks is a leading Canadian brewery and premium beverage manufacturing partner focused on innovation, quality, and excellence in execution.
We are looking for experienced Packaging Supervisors to join our new Evans manufacturing facility and help bring our high-speed, highly automated packaging operation into production.
The Packaging Supervisor is responsible for leading the Packaging team during their assigned shift and ensuring production is executed safely, efficiently, and according to schedule and quality requirements. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring a strong presence on the production floor, effective decision-making, and the ability to develop and hold teams accountable for performance.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead the Packaging team during assigned shifts with accountability for safety, quality, production performance, and execution of the production schedule.
· Support equipment commissioning, start-up, and production ramp-up while developing strong knowledge of the equipment and operating processes.
· Lead shift operation of the 96,000 cans-per-hour Krones packaging line and associated automated packaging and material-handling equipment.
· Coordinate staffing and work assignments and ensure the team is prepared for line start-ups, shutdowns, changeovers, cleaning, and scheduled production.
· Monitor and manage shift performance against OEE, throughput, downtime, waste, quality, and schedule targets, taking corrective action and escalating issues as required.
· Lead efficient product and format changeovers and ensure the line is returned to production safely and on schedule.
· Coordinate with Maintenance during equipment breakdowns and troubleshooting to minimize downtime and restore production safely.
· Ensure required packaging quality checks, inspections, coding, production records, downtime reporting, and other shift documentation are completed accurately and on time.
· Coach Packaging Operators on standard work, equipment ownership, routine inspections, basic troubleshooting, and expected performance.
· Ensure compliance with workplace safety, food safety, GMP, sanitation, and established operating procedures.
· Address shift-level performance, attendance, safety, quality, and conduct issues and escalate as appropriate.
· Provide clear shift handovers, including production status, equipment issues, quality concerns, and outstanding actions.
· Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities and support implementation of improvements on shift.
What We're Looking For
· Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment, preferably beverage, food, CPG, or automated packaging.
· Strong understanding of automated packaging operations, production flow, and equipment performance.
· Demonstrated ability to lead frontline teams, set clear expectations, coach employees, and maintain accountability.
· Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to identify equipment issues and work effectively with Maintenance during troubleshooting.
· Experience monitoring production performance using OEE, downtime, throughput, waste, and other operational KPIs.
· Strong understanding of quality, food safety, GMP, sanitation, and workplace safety requirements.
· Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to respond effectively to production issues.
· Strong communication and organizational skills with the ability to coordinate effectively with Maintenance, Quality, Warehouse, and other supporting teams.
· Ability to remain visible and engaged on the production floor while managing multiple priorities.
· Flexibility to work the shifts required to support a continuous manufacturing operation.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with Krones or similar high-speed automated packaging equipment.
· Experience with high-speed beverage filling, seaming, conveying, secondary packaging, and palletizing equipment.
· Experience with automated manufacturing systems and production/KPI tracking.
· Experience with Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, or structured problem-solving.
About the Evans Facility
The Evans facility represents the next stage of Brunswick Bierworks’ growth and is being built as a modern, highly automated beverage manufacturing operation.
The facility will feature a new 96,000 cans-per-hour Krones packaging line, automated secondary packaging and material-handling equipment, beverage processing systems, and supporting plant infrastructure.
Packaging Supervisors will play an important role as Evans moves through commissioning, start-up, and production ramp-up, leading their teams as operating standards and routines are established.
As the facility ramps to full production, the Packaging Supervisor will be responsible for consistent execution at the shift level, ensuring the team operates safely, meets quality requirements, delivers against the production schedule, responds effectively to downtime, and maintains strong operating discipline.
