Material Handler

We have openings for Material Handlers, based out of our Calgary SE Technical Centre location. Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, the Material Handler is responsible for providing accurate control of inventory through receiving goods, inventory picking activities and maintaining the inventory database. This position helps achieve the department and Company goals and objectives relating to material handling, warehousing and inventory control.
Responsibilities also include:
- Pick and verify parts/serial numbers driven from demand placed on the Supply Chain through inventory requests, sales orders, shipping requests, work orders, pull sheets and production orders, ensuring a high level of accuracy.
- Ensure all picked goods are tagged and packaged correctly to meet shipping requirements (where applicable).
- Communicate any part shortages to appropriate personnel, such as procurement and the customer.
- Ensure that discrepancies on inventories are rectified through proper adjustment protocols.
- Maintain accurate inventory records through inventory counts, cycle counts and year end physical inventory.
- Maintain the inventory room in a safe, tidy, orderly, and organized manner and ensure all inventory is clearly identified and easily accessed.
- Ensure safety is a number one priority through all material handling, storage, housekeeping, etc.
- Follow receiving/shipping processes while offloading and loading all incoming/outgoing shipments.
- Update all transactions into SAP for all received, consumed, and incoming and outgoing goods.
- Receive and verify serial numbers on all parts and equipment in accordance to quality inspection criteria set forth by QC.
- Work and collaborate with Global Inventory Analyst and Accounting on variances and discrepancies.
- Work overtime when required and with prior supervisor approval.
The successful candidate will have three or more years of shipping/receiving, inventory control or warehousing experience and two or more years of forklift operating experience. The incumbent will also have thorough understanding of MS Office and Windows/PC based operations, “Principles of Inventory & Warehousing” and a basic understanding of MRP/ERP concepts. An ability to analyze and understand discrepancies and present resolutions, both orally and written is required. This individual will work well individually and, in a team, while displaying accuracy and attention to detail. They will develop and maintain effective working relationships with peers and managers while developing excellent work habits including punctuality and attendance. Previous oil and gas experience is an asset.
Please note that the location of this position is outside of the Calgary Transit service area. The successful candidate must have reliable transportation.
