Position Summary
Oversee the daily operations of the conference floor and practice floor meeting rooms in the Toronto North, Vaughan office.
What you will do:
Role and Responsibilities
Ensures the quality levels of food & beverage items and maintains quality standards in services, facilities and client satisfaction.
Communicates all changes with AV technicians and makes adjustments according to meeting requirements
Resolves conflicts with meetings on the conference floor
Meets with Admins/event planners to review event details, food orders, event agenda, decoration details, rentals, staffing, elevator bookings and anything else that might be needed to ensure a successful meeting or event
Obtains quotes from vendors and codes and approves invoices
Monitors timing for food to be placed in meeting rooms and, if possible, being in the conference floor servery when food arrives
Responsible for the maintenance of the conference floor.
Monitor multiple email boxes and respond promptly to meeting and event
Monitor, review and confirm catering requests via the Event Management System (EMS)
Reconcile event charges to corresponding department using the Corporate American Express Reconciliation system.
Electronically code and process vendor invoices to ensure payments are processed in a timely
Supervisor and performance manager:
Performance manager for hostess and reception staff
Supervises and provides training and coaching for hostess and reception staff
Reviews the monthly schedule for hostesses and receptionists, making changes as necessary
Facilitates monthly meetings with hostess staff and receptionists.
At times, business needs arise and employees are required and agree to work beyond their normal work day or work week to fulfill the accountabilities required for their job. Likewise, people need extra time to devote to personal matters, and our approach to flexibility provides for this.
What you bring to this role:
Skills & Qualifications
Degree in Food Service Management
Minimum 5 years’ working experience with at least 2 years of Food and Beverage experience
Experience in performance Management and interpersonal skills an asset
Possess high standards and professionalism
Experience in developing teams and individuals
Excellent leadership and organizational skills
Experience in quality driven projects
Must possess a high level of customer service orientation
Must be able to manage multiple projects and timelines while working independently and as part of a fast-paced team
Excellent forward thinking, planning and decision-making skills
Excellent communication skills whether verbal, written or non-verbal
Experience in developing Food and Beverage plans
Experience in Food and Beverage budget preparation
Approachable, open minded and fair
Flexible and with high energy level
Must be able to work independently
Excellent creativity
Lead teams to accomplish organizational goals
Must be able to allocate resources and trust others to take authority and responsibility
Must be able to handle various situations with sensitivity
Must be able to facilitate change in the working environment for continuous improvement
Experience in dealing with a multi-cultural environment
Strong background in Food and Beverage cost control and technical knowledge
Good analytical skills
Ability to handle pressure in a fast paced environment
Evenings and weekends may be required during peak times
