As part of the Unity Health Toronto Research Strategic Plan , the four scientific pillars of world-class research and innovation are led by a Scientific Pillar Director. The Project Manager I will support the Organ Injury & Repair and the Brain Health & Wellness Scientific Pillar Directors and will be responsible for implementing and managing new projects, evaluating and improving existing projects, and performing administrative duties, as required. It is expected that the Project Manager I will dedicated approximately 50% of their time to each pillar.
The position will require a combination of onsite and remote work, and the successful candidate will be expected to have a high level of adaptability and flexibility in managing their workload accordingly.
Duties & Responsibilities :
Work closely with Scientific Pillar Directors to ensure projects are aligned with institutional objectives.
Ensures appropriate mechanisms are in place for the optimal delivery of projects, including best practices guidelines and tools for the effective management and execution of projects.
Prepares project plans, deliverables, schedules and timelines to meet identified goals,
Develops and manages communication(s) and other initiatives that will advance project goals and objectives.
Lead all associated project activities and organize meetings with appropriate parties to facilitate achieving objectives.
Track and monitor project progress against scheduled milestones and report status to team/stakeholders including forecasts and budget updates.
Oversee the preparation of detailed and timely project annual updates and reports.
Identify issues where project work differs from the plan and work within the various committees/teams to create corrective actions.
Plan or assist with large-scale events such as symposiums or annual retreats.
Organize center-wide awards and talks/seminars/workshops involving local, national, and international speakers.
Manage event budgets and timelines.
Provide on-site event support as needed.
Manage and maintain project-related documents and databases.
Prepare and distribute project-related reports and presentations.
Schedule and coordinate meetings
Provide general administrative support as needed.
Qualifications:
Completion of a recognized Bachelor’s Degree
A minimum of 1-2 years project management experience
Evidence of working towards project management certification/education an asset
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate information/ideas, in a manner that is easily understood by others
Strong time management ability
Excellent customer service, interpersonal and listening skills
Excellent computer skills e.g., Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
Excellent p roblem recognition and problem solving skills
Very good organizational and time management skills
Very good problem recognition and problem solving skills with the ability to deal with situations where information is difficult to obtain, complex or ambiguous
Detail oriented with very good analytical skills related to proposal development/project management
Ability to think on your own and pay close attention to detail
Ability to take initiative and work in a self-directed manner
Ability to effectively analyze problems, interpret needs and develop creative solutions
Ability to undertake report generation, analysis and project implementation
