Responsible for engaging current and prospective customers via social media channels, building a strong community around our brand, and analyzing relevant metrics. This includes proactive and reactive social postings, social integration and monitoring to manage Kobo’s online reputation.
The Social Media Manager will foster two-way communication with fans of Kobo, with the goal of publicizing Kobo as the leading choice of eReading for both consumers and retail partners, an innovation technology leader, and heavyweight contender within the eReading industry.
This position is part of the Communications team and is focused on driving reach and engagement with fans and followers; paid social media activities driving book sales are the responsibility of the Marketing team. The successful candidate will work closely with the Marketing team to ensure both organic and paid social complement each other; as well the Global Communications Manager on internal communications and corporate event planning.

Monitor Kobo social media communities including but not limited to Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn
Engage with Kobo communities to increase visibility of Kobo online and to foster positive relationships with Kobo customers, fans and online influencers
Manage social media agencies/consultants in Canada, Italy, France, the Netherlands, Spain, and Australia to ensure consistent messaging for Kobo globally
Develop compelling organic social media content including blog posts, video materials, infographics and other materials to support Kobo’s business objectives
Support execution of social media programs including event activations, product launches, fan events, contests, and surveys
Work closely with Customer Care to support issue resolution online and provide added value to consumers looking for information about Kobo products and services and the industry
Work closely with team members on drafting messaging and answers to tough customer questions and/or crises
Work with C-Suite executives on occasion, and the willingness to work beyond business hours when necessary for internal/external events
Assist team members with internal communications and events as required
Progressive experience in marketing communications, public relations, social media, content marketing, or related field.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ; French and/or other language skills are an asset
3+ years of online communications or social media experience with a proven track record in solving problems and issues through communications
Experience managing multiple social media channels with an appetite for finding new and innovative ways to reach audiences, such as partnerships with influencers and complementary brands
Experience developing customer-focused content and a solid understanding of community management principles.
Strong communications instinct on handling tough questions or crises
Strategic thinker who excels at coming up with original ideas and is able to execute.
Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines by building and maintaining comprehensive content calendars
Ability to integrate social programs to support PR and marketing goals and programs; able to perform within an integrated team environment.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and other graphics and/or presentation software
Knowledge of social monitoring and engagement platforms such as Meltwater, Later, Google Analytics, Facebook Insights
