Carpenter Assistant
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Carpenter Assistant to support our construction team with residential exterior projects, including decks, fences, sheds, and general carpentry work.
Responsibilities
- Assist carpenters with the construction of decks, fences, sheds, stairs, railings, and other residential projects.
- Assist with measuring, cutting, fastening, assembling, and installing wood and other building materials under supervision.
- Dig and prepare post holes and assist with setting, leveling, and securing fence and deck posts.
- Assist with concrete mixing and placement for posts and foundations.
- Support deck framing, including beams, joists, blocking, decking, stairs, and railing installation.
- Assist with fence construction, including layout, posts, framing, fence boards, panels, and gates.
- Assist with shed construction, including framing, flooring, siding, roofing, doors, and finishing work.
- Load, unload, carry, and organize lumber, tools, equipment, and construction materials.
- Perform demolition, site preparation, cleanup, and disposal of construction debris as required.
- Safely use hand and power tools under the direction of experienced team members.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site.
- Follow drawings, measurements, instructions, and project specifications.
- Support the construction team with physically demanding tasks in varying outdoor conditions.
- Follow all company and job-site health and safety procedures.
- Perform other construction and carpentry-related duties as required.
Qualifications
- Previous construction, carpentry, landscaping, or general labour experience is required.
- Familiarity with basic hand and power tools is an asset.
- Basic knowledge of residential construction and carpentry is an asset.
- Ability to accurately use a measuring tape and follow measurements and instructions.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a construction crew.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting and carrying construction materials, digging, bending, kneeling, and working outdoors.
- Comfortable working in different weather conditions.
- Ability to follow safety procedures and instructions from supervisors.
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation are considered assets.

This is an in-person, site-based position. Work locations may vary depending on active projects. Hours and days may vary based on project requirements and weather conditions.
