Filtrum is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Mechanical Estimator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing blueprints, specifications, and other documents to prepare time, cost, materials, labor and subcontractor estimates for projects. You will play a crucial role in ensuring our projects are completed on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyze project plans and specifications to understand the scope and requirements.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for mechanical systems including piping, process equipment, and other mechanical components.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to obtain accurate information for estimates.
- Review and evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotes to ensure they meet project requirements.
- Assist in the preparation of bid proposals, including cost breakdowns and schedules.
- Attend site visits, schedule meetings with suppliers and subcontractors (when required)
- Monitor and update cost estimates as projects progress, identifying and addressing potential cost overruns.
- Communicate with clients and stakeholders to explain and justify estimates.
- Maintain records of all estimates, bids, and projects for future reference.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Mechanical Technology, Construction Management, Estimation or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as an Estimator in the construction or engineering industry.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 package.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, materials, and construction methods.
- Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Valid drivers license
