As an educator, you will help create a safe, engaging, and enriching environment for children aged 0–5 and those in Out-of-School Care (OSC). You will be responsible for planning and delivering our specialized curriculum—The Ivy Method—to support children’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. As part of our commitment to continuous professional growth, you will also receive training to ensure you are confident and well-prepared to meet the needs of the curriculum.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver developmentally appropriate, learning experiences based on Alberta’s FLIGHT framework, incorporating Montessori and Reggio-inspired practices.
- Take a lead role in guiding daily routines, provocations, and learning environments that foster curiosity, creativity, and skill development.
- Regularly observe and document children’s learning, using these insights to inform curriculum planning and communicate growth with families.
- Modeling best practices and contributing to a collaborative teaching environment.
- Build strong relationships with families through regular communication, respectful collaboration, and involvement in the learning process.
- Ensure all health, safety, and licensing requirements are met, while creating an emotionally supportive space for children.
- Adapt programming to meet the needs, interests, and developmental levels of each child, including those with diverse learning styles or additional needs.
- Actively engage in training, team planning meetings, and reflective practice to grow as an educator and contribute to a culture of lifelong learning.
- Represent Ivy Prep’s values through consistent professionalism, initiative, and respect in all interactions.
Qualifications:
- Valid Alberta Child Care Certification: Level 2.
- Minimum of 1 to 3 years of progressive experience in the childcare field.
- Valid First Aid Certification (or willing to attain one).
- Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search (within 6 months or willing to attain one).
- Up-to-date immunizations (as required by Alberta Health Services).
- Strong understanding of child development and inclusive practices.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to fostering a respectful, professional, and collaborative workplace culture.
Assets:
- Familiarity with multiple curricula
- Bilingualism or additional languages are an asset
