Job Title: Pipe Layer – Water & Sewer Installations
Location: Fort Albany, Ontario & Natuashish, NL (Remote, Northern Project)
Rotation: 28 days on / 14 days off, fly-in, fly-out position
Reports To: Site Superintendent / Project Manager
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Pipe Layer to join our team for a rotational project in Fort Albany, ON. and Natuashish, NL. This position involves working on water and sewer infrastructure installation in a remote, northern setting. The successful candidate will bring hands-on expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a challenging environment. Camp accommodations and meals are provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and OPSDs to determine project requirements.
- Install, align, and join water and sewer pipes according to specifications and industry standards.
- Prepare, organize, and maintain tools, materials, and equipment required for pipe installation.
- Measure, cut, and fit pipes accurately to ensure correct alignment and grading.
- Perform trenching, bedding, and backfilling activities safely and efficiently.
- Troubleshoot and resolve installation issues or challenges on site.
- Operate or work alongside heavy equipment operators to ensure accurate placement of piping.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies while working in remote and northern environments.
- Work collaboratively with site supervisors, engineers, and crew members to ensure timely project completion.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored and maintained.
- Support general labour and construction tasks as required in a camp-based work setting.
Qualifications & Requirements
- 5+ years experience as a Pipe Layer in water and sewer installation projects.
- Proven ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and OPSDs.
- Ability and previous knowledge and use with survey and GPS equipment.
- Strong knowledge of water and sewer construction methods and standards.
- Experience working in northern/remote settings or rotational shifts considered an asset.
- Physically fit and able to perform strenuous work in varying weather conditions.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a camp-based environment.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass pre-employment drug & alcohol testing.
- Safety certifications such as WHMIS, Working at Heights, Confined Space, First Aid, and CSTS (or willingness to obtain).
