We are looking for an Assistant Manager, Retail Credit, so if you’re passionate about improving people’s financial health and have proven experience with mortgage and personal lending, procedural training, providing policy interpretation, and assisting with more complicated credit applications, we’d like to hear from you.
What’s the role?
As an Assistant Manager, Retail Credit, you will support the branch network, Relationship Centre, Mobile Mortgage and Broker Centre teams by using knowledge and expertise to meet work-unit objectives to ensure that Coastal Community has a balanced portfolio of member loans while adjudicating, advising, and training on all lending products according to applicable policies and procedures. You will provide audit functions to ensure compliance with policies and procedures for retail credit and you will ensure appropriate levels and risk controls are in place to monitor staff and related party portfolios. The Assistant Manager, Retail Credit will excel at analyzing information received from credit applications and credit reporting agencies to make prudent credit decisions that support Coastal Community's vision to be the leaders in building relationships that improve financial health, enrich people’s lives and build healthier communities.
What are we looking for?
- Successful completion of a Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma requiring 3-4 years of full-time study or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Successful completion of CUIC 210 - Credit Union Consumer and Residential Mortgage Lending;
- 6-9 years of progressive financial experience;
- 4-6 years of mortgage and personal lending experience with lending limits;
- A comprehensive understanding of insured lending programs (i.e. CMHC/Genworth);
- Thorough understanding of credit union operations, principles, and values.
Ideally, you are a flexible, collaborative team player with:
- An up-to-date knowledge of market conditions;
- Advanced knowledge of industry-standard underwriting practices
- Ability to review business financials to interpret for evaluation of overall credit risk;
- A solid understanding of the competitive environment in the financial marketplace, and local communities within the region;
- Proven social networking skills and an ability to connect with individuals inside and outside the organization;
- Ability to analyze and interpret the needs of clients and offer the appropriate options, solutions and resolutions.

Career Band Range (Annual Salary) - $72,535.00 to $85,322.00
The posted salary range is designed to reflect a broad career band, encompassing a variety of roles within our organization and serves as a general guideline. Your final compensation will be tailored to your unique skills, experience, and the responsibilities of the role.
