T&T Supermarket Inc. was founded in 1993 with two stores in BC. Since then, it has expanded rapidly and is now Canada’s largest Asian supermarket chain with 36 stores across the country: 13 in BC, 7 in Alberta, 14 in Ontario, and 2 in Quebec. The Company’s continuous expansion is going to bring more new stores in the next couple of years.
The role:
Reporting to the Associate Director, Prepared Foods Kitchen - WR, the Assistant Kitchen Merchandiser is responsible for supporting the purchasing function in the region for the Kitchen Department by establishing business relationship and working closely with our local supplies. The position also requires to handle the weekly promotion plan/special promotion plan, provide solutions to product issues and follow up with vendors on rebate or other matters related to Kitchen products.
Major Responsibilities:
- Maintain regular communication with local suppliers to ensure the business needs of Kitchen Departments are filled
- Negotiate and establish contracts with local vendors; evaluating their brand performance, pricing, service level and preparing and analyzing purchasing reports
- Explore and develop new local vendors, maintain and enhance business partnerships with them
- Monitor and replenish inventory via placing orders with our local suppliers in a timely manner to ensure adequate inventory with good quality are available in our warehouse
- Responsible for handling our weekly promotion plan/special promotion plan
- Handle enquiries received from stores and customers regarding issues related to Kitchen products
- Follow up with local vendors on matters related to our order and rebate
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the superior(s)
Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in the food services industry, supermarket chain store Kitchen Department purchasing operation
- Knowledge and prior experience in food products and is an asset
- Good negotiation skills with sound business judgment and decision-making
- Ability to build, develop and maintain relationship
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to communicate in English & Chinese (Mandarin &/or Cantonese)
- Possess intermediate knowledge in using Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
- Some travelling to stores &/or suppliers is required
Pay: $40,000.00-$55,000.00 per year
