Role Summary:
The Production Technician is responsible for assembling, troubleshooting, repairing, and testing medical devices containing electro-mechanical assemblies, wiring harnesses, and printed circuit board assemblies. In addition, the position leverages their skills to identify and document issues related to the assembly process and communicates them to the broader team.
Role Responsibilities:
- Assembles devices according to exact specifications following technical drawings, diagrams, and work instructions.
- Performs device testing to verify the quality of the product.
- Identifies testing failures and provides solutions.
- Manually solders electronic components onto printed circuit boards.
- Assists in creating and verifying work instructions and procedures.
- Considers quality in all aspects of the job and respects procedures and norms.
- Performs other manufacturing duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
- Diploma in electronic or mechanical engineering, technician, or equivalent work experience.
- PC J-STD-001 certification would be an asset.
- 2-3 years of related experience working in a medical device manufacturing environment.
- Experience soldering and de-soldering of surface mount electronic components on printed circuit board assemblies.
- Experience building cable harnesses and assemblies.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong mechanical aptitude and dexterity.
- Knowledge of pneumatics is an asset.
- Ability to lift 50lbs.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools and lab equipment in an electronics assembly environment.
- Strong communication skills, both verballand in written.
- Ability to follow good documentation practices.
- Self-starter, able to work independently or with a team.
- Excellent troubleshooting ability.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 or ISO 13485:2016 processes.
- Strong knowledge of MS Office software.
Other Requirements:
- Primarily production room related requirements with exposure to office environment when required.
- Lifting (up to 50 pounds) and bending.
- Some travel may be required.
Compensation:
The target salary range for this position is $50,000 - $55,000 per annum. The salary range reflects the base pay only and does not include bonus or benefits. The position is also eligible for a bonus.
The starting salary offered to a candidate will be dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to experience, job-related skills and relevant education and/or training.
