Workplace Adult Educator - Burnaby

Relocating soon to our new offices in the Gilmore Station area as we are a growing company. SkillPlan is a nationally recognized leader in workforce development programs. We have close to 30 years of experience providing workforce development consulting services and resources to the construction and mining industries, as well as other sectors. We are looking for a full-time Workplace Educator to support our workforce development training and program design services for our clients across Canada.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree with preference in Education or Adult Education, Instructional Design, Human Performance Technology, Educational Technology or a related discipline
  • Secondary Adult Basic Education and/or workplace training development and delivery experience
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Experience designing curriculum and developing materials to meet learning outcomes
  • Facilitation and presentation skills for the delivery of education and training programs
  • Advanced proficiency of standard computer applications including MS Office Suite, internet searching, email, experience with e-learning platforms a definite asset

Education and Experience Nice to Have

  • Familiar with Essential Skills and its application, ideal candidate would have experience developing learning and training materials against Essential Skills framework
  • Strong knowledge base in adult learning theory, instructional design and technology
  • Demonstrated training needs assessment and needs analysis experience
  • One on one tutoring experience with apprentices and employees would be an asset

Skills and Abilities

  • Effective oral and written communication skills including technical writing and applying editing standards and conventions
  • Ability to maintain collaborative relationships with a diverse range of clients (unions, employers, contractors, and Aboriginal groups)
  • Ability to work effectively on multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment with a high level of accountability
  • Effective organizational and time management skills in meeting deadlines, prioritizing, and coping with interruptions
  • Ability to perform research, problem solve, organize material, conduct analysis, and evaluate data
  • Ability to use sound judgment in decision making; demonstrating consistent logic, rationality, objectivity and creativity; analytical
  • Ability to perform routine and complex work with a high degree of accuracy
  • Committed to learning and professional development
  • Organize and manage tasks to meet deadlines at a high-quality standard
  • Excellent math and science skills related to trades, and apprenticeship programs
  • Ensure all products and services developed and delivered comply with SkillPlan best practices and quality standards
  • Conceptual thinker with sound judgment who can gather, analyze and translate best practice information into practical solutions that support the business in achieving goals and priorities

Other:

  • Valid BC Driver's Licence

Hours and Days of Work:

  • 5-day work week including occasional evenings and weekends
  • Flexible work schedule
  • Occasional travel in BC and across Canada
