Job Description
As peer support workers our goal is to build relationships, help individuals access services, overdose prevention, and work towards the prevention of the spread of communicable diseases with people who use substances. A cornerstone of our work revolves around the monitoring for possible drug poisoning and providing rapid intervention if necessary. Priority is given to applicants with first-hand lived experience.
What we do
- Provide harm reduction and rapid overdose response.
- Overdose prevention in a range of in-reach and out-reach settings.
- Maintain harmony within the community using de-escalation techniques and positive communication.
- Provide peer support, and education.
- Create a safe and welcoming space to strengthen public health.
- Maintain area cleanliness.
- Collaborate with healthcare, service providers, and community.
Qualifications
- Lived experience, Degree, diploma, or previous work experience in the field.
- Preference will be given to candidates with first-hand lived experience.
- Ability and willingness to work at and rotate through a range of workplace settings, including outdoor settings.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Casual; 11 hr shifts.
