Cross Country Infrastructure Services Inc. (CCIS), is a rapidly growing pipeline/industrial supply and rental company with locations in Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan. We possess a fun and focused team of professionals who produce and supply a vast array of innovative equipment and solutions to the oil and gas and construction markets.

We are currently seeking an experienced, reliable Purchaser who possesses between 3 and 5 years of tenure in a purchasing/buying/procurement and/or inventory management role. The successful candidate will have a proven ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced environment, where change and shifting priorities are typical. This is a full-time opportunity, based out of our corporate branch in Spruce Grove, AB.

Duties:

  • Manage existing accounts and/or negotiate new contracts with vendors/suppliers
  • Maintain sound product knowledge; understand the types of products that CCIS sells or is interested in taking on, and the processes involved in producing such items
  • Source the highest quality products maintaining a balanced yet conservative cost strategy
  • Control and manage inventory ensuring appropriate level(s) of stock; adjust purchase quantities in response to emerging trends
  • Collaborate with other functional teams as necessary to maintain accurate inventory counts
  • Know, monitor and continually evaluate current suppliers’ offerings and terms; look for opportunities to leverage buying power and improve purchasing experience
  • Actively source innovative solutions relevant to CCIS’ product/distribution line
  • Research potential suppliers; conduct product comparisons and analyze costs against existing inventory values and vendor pricing
  • Consider and approve qualified suppliers by assessing financial status, capacities, quality, general technical capabilities, delivery trends and performance
  • Establish/manage strategic partnerships; maintain a favorable rapport
  • Write and process purchase orders
  • Logistics; coordinate with warehouse/shipping and receiving team to ensure timelines, transport details and delivery of purchased orders
  • Reconcile shipments and manifests and track and manage back ordered or damaged inventory; coordinate with vendors to correct discrepancies or make returns if necessary

Skills/Abilities:

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Well-honed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to negotiate with suppliers and make profitable deals
  • Ability to effectively coordinate with other functional groups
  • Inventory management skills including data analysis competencies
  • Ability to proactively forecast needs in association with inventory usage trends
  • Knowledge of pipeline equipment, tools/parts and related resources
  • Intermediate computer skills; proficiency in MS applications, particularly Excel
  • Proficiency with inventory management software; experience with Sage

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years’ experience in a purchaser/buyer/procurement and/or inventory management role
  • Previous experience in a similar capacity within the oil and gas sector and/or civil/industrial construction industry
  • Related training or formal education in business, supply chain, etc.

Travel:

  • Travel to/from vendor/supplier facilities may be required
  • Travel to other branch locations may be required

  • Commensurate with qualifications and experience
  • Benefits after 3 months of employment
